Current Work
The work of the Balsall Heath Forum is focussed on six main areas. These are:

Building Social Capital
The Forum builds a cohesive, proud and spirited community which is strong in faith. It is one extended family which eats and celebrates together in communal meals, carnivals and a range of other social activities.
Increasing Safety
The Forum makes the area safer and prevents terrorism. It employs Street Wardens, motivates dozens of volunteers and organises regular Street Watch activities. It also brings people of different faiths and none together in mutual respect through various community projects which facilitates good community integration and unity.
Improving Health
The Forum cares for the elderly and the infirm by visiting them, introducing them to good neighbours and organises food banks and the distribution of food hampers.
Protecting and Enhancing the Environment
The Forum cleans and greens the environment from the reconditioned Tree Nursery and enables residents to tend their front and rear gardens and alleyways. The area enters and wins prizes in the Britain in Bloom competition and visitors feel welcome and safe.
Providing Education and Advice
The Forum works closely with schools and supports young people in out-of-school activities. It encourages ambition and enables the area to be economically viable with jobs and the creation of small businesses. It is exploring the idea of mutual and cooperative associations which could, for example, take on the running of ‘confused’ spaces owned, but not looked after, by the Council and car parks which are uncared for.
Working in Partnership
The Forum does not act alone. It employs a Neighbourhood Manager who services a Neighbourhood Strategic Partnership on which sit all statutory providers which deliver services to the neighbourhood. It works with a Neighbourhood Plan which integrates and targets those services and has enabled residents to feel able to influence events.
